Breakfast Film Selected for National Screening

Axisweb’s Streetplayer 2018 is a showcase of exemplary film and moving image works created by Axisweb members.

Streetplayer is a 12 month programme that aims to celebrate the work of artists by sharing it with a broad audience outside a gallery setting. Film and moving image works by 10 artists have been selected, including Breakfast, the film by Ellie Collins documenting our breakfast performance at …blip in early February.

Showcased across Axisweb’s Vacant Space venues and digital platforms Streetplayer seeks to foster dialogue between artists and audiences, stimulating curiosity and providing a level of access that normally doesn’t exist.

”  Breakfast: Ellie Collins 2018

Breakfast documents a collaborative performance by artists Ellie Collins and Marc Renshaw that took place on 3rd February 2018 at …blip – a space for art, an Axisweb Vacant Space run by Collins and Renshaw in Grimsby.

Breakfast was part of a continuing series of works under the title Regenerei8ht, a rolling programme of impromptu events and installations that run on selected dates throughout the year at …blip – a space for art, 8 Victoria Street South, Grimsby.

Regenerei8ht takes inspiration from the Greater Grimsby Town Deal, an industrial strategy backed by council and business leaders that proposes a programme of investment and regeneration for the area.

Regenerei8ht proposes potential uses for the many empty spaces in and around Grimsby town centre and through an open brief asks an audience largely unused to encountering contemporary art ‘What is regeneration? What role can art play?’
